SAT-AIS Workplan ARTES 5

The overall objectives of the SAT-AIS workplan is the preparation of a proposal for the 2012 ESA Ministerial Council for the implementation of a European SAT-AIS.

The workplan takes into account the needs of and possible partnerships with relevant stakeholders, under the consideration of existing capabilities and/or planned systems.

The activities within this workplan will be performed under different ARTES elements ARTES 5.1, ARTES 20 and ARTES 21 and will be carried out by the executive, industries and EMSA. Industry will be selected via open competition.

The following technology activities within the ARTES programme element 5.1 have been approved:

  • Miniaturised Low-Weight Space Antenna for AIS VHF Applications
  • AIS End-to-end testbed development

Under ARTES 5.2 the following development is on-going:

Flexible SAT-AIS receiver Prototype - FENICE
