There is also a continuous Open Call For Proposals for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) under the Initiative For ESA Telecom Newcomers. Newcomers' Initiative TIA offers an exciting opportunity for Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs) entering into the field of satellite communications with the Initiative for ESA Telecom Newcomers. The Newcomers' Initiative is designed to support SMEs through the early stages of research and development of services for the satcom market. ARTES 3-4 ARTES 3-4 is the Products Programme for satellite telecommunication projects. ARTES 3-4 aims to support; design, development and demonstration activities in the space segment, ground segment and satcom application areas. ARTES 5.2 ARTES 5.2 supports, through co-funding, the development of new technologies, techniques and system concepts in the area of satellite communication. A proposal shall include a plan for completing the ARTES 5.2 activity in a follow-on development of a product. ARTES 20 ARTES 20 Integrated Applications Promotion (IAP) is dedicated to the development of user-driven applications through the combination of different space assets and technologies such as Telecommunications, Earth Observation, Navigation, and Human Spaceflight technologies. Responses to the ARTES 20 Call for Proposals must meet programme objectives. These include: * Promotion of space applications to a wide range of users who may not realise space technology can bring them benefits; * Development of new operational services for these users involving participation from both the supply and demand sides; * The proposal must combine at least two space assets, such as satellite communications, earth observation, satellite navigation and human spaceflight technologies among others; * The proposal must show how these space assets themselves, and in combination with ground assets, will provide added value and fill gaps facilitating sustainable services that will benefit end-users; * Partnership should be the underlying basis for developing these applications/ services.
