The target of SiMPLE was the development of new services: - Automatic multicast Web cache content updating
- Automatic selection and delivery of content
- Decentralised software system for distribution of information
- Easy and efficient method of multicasting multimedia Internet content

Currently SiMPLE is in its Beta-test phase lasting from July 15th, 1999 until November 15th, 1999. Official prices and licencing information will be available 4Q99.
The advantages of the SiMPLE Software System are: - Tremendous saving of (satellite) bandwidth
- One-to-many delivery of any content
- Sophisticated filtering and selection both at server and client
- Seamless integration into standard proxy configurations
- Avoiding problems introduced by TCP over Satellite through two new, state-of-the-art protocols, ODC and RRMP
- Built upon reliable IPmulticast and UDP
- Suitable for any content distributor, e.g. ISPs or companies with many scattered sites
The results of SiMPLE Software System developments are: - Multicast proxies
- In advance selection and delivery services
- Scalable and reliable multicast protocols
- Single user and Multiple user client proxies
- Integrated front-end applications, mostly Web-based
- Flexible and secured system maintenance and monitoring
- Linux and Windows 95/98/NT4.0 based clients
- Generation of user profiles at server and client side for optimized content distribution
The Project Implementation Review was held in Salzburg on July 1999.
