Design and verification of Antenna tracking system for Q/V band Hubs
Programme Element: ARTES 5.1

Planned Tender Issue: quarter 2, 2013

Objective: Design and verify performances of antenna tracking systems for large ground stations operating at Q/V band, also at low elevation angles.
Targeted Improvements: To obtain in this new frequency band the performances (i.e. pointing losses, relative pointing accuracy and availability) of current tracking systems operating at lower frequencies (Ka and Ku band) in order to compensate for the increase of atmospheric propagation effects (mainly atmospheric turbulence and attenuation) and the eventual degradation at Q/V band of figures of RF components (i.e. losses, noise figure). The development will be beneficial also for Ka band HUB station operating at low elevation angles (e.g. ground stations in polar regions).
