Programme Element: ARTES 5.1
Reference nr.: 13.1TT.42
Planned Tender Issue: quarter 4, 2013
(*) Priority 2 Objective: To design, manufacture and electrically characterise a new BiCMOS 12-14 bit radiation hardened broadband ADC. Targeted Improvements:This ADC will deliver better performances with respect to the state of the art European devices manufactured using Bipolar processes from Infineon (B7HF200). Today the Infineon B7HF200 process has been successfully used by E2V to design a 10-bit ADC, a 12-bit DAC and a 12-bit ADC. Even if dynamic performances are reached (Spurious Free Dynamic Range, signal to noise ratio), the power consumption is still too high with respect to US competitors (TI). Description: This activity builds upon previous TRP broadband low power ADC development that has successfully been completed. The aim with the new activity is to significantly improve the power consumption and the effective number of bits (ENOB) through exploitation of ST BiCMOS9 process. The work logic is as follows: - Refinement of the specifications. - ADC design. - ADC manufacturing. - ADC testing with the manufacturer's ATE (Automatic Test Equipment). - Delivery of 30 fully functional devices. - Definition of an electrical characterisation breadboard. - Manufacture of the breadboard. - ADC electrical characterisation. The objective is to reach TRL4 for this ADC technology.
(*) Priority 2 activities will only be initiated on the explicit request of at least one delegation.
