Accelerometers are fixed on Hispasat- AG1's Europe reflector in preparation for acoustic testing in the Large European Acoustic Facility (LEAF) located at ESA's ESTEC facility in Noordwijk, The Netherlands.
The LEAF, measuring 11 x 9 x 16.4m, simulates realistic spectral noise pressure levels comparable of those generated by the launcher engines and air flow passing along the launcher faring. The noise generation system consists of four different horns with cut-off frequencies of 25Hz, 35Hz, 80Hz and 160Hz plus three high frequency generators.
European Test Services (ETS) operates ESTEC’s Test Centre.
