Telemedicine: News items published by ESA Telecom

How can space improve telemedicine and what do users need? This is one of the questions ESA Telecom has tried to answer since it launched its first telemedicine project back in 1996.

Telemedicine initiative for sub-Saharan Africa: pilot projects proposed (20 Mar 2007)
Satellite solutions delivering information and communication technologies can help improve health in sub-Saharan Africa; this was the main conclusion of a dedicated telemedicine task force which met recently in Botswana. ESA lends support to Telemedicine Project for Iraq (16 Nov 2005)
The European Space Agency has agreed to support an initiative from the Italian company Telbios. The initiative is called 'SIMONA: A Telemedicine Project for Iraq' and involves connecting a teaching hospital in Baghdad Iraq with the Hospital Umberto I of 'La Sapienza' University in Rome Italy.
