With the Special Interest Groups, ESA develops an open environment for exchange between operators, service providers, applications providers (satellite and terrestrial), users' fora, manufacturers of terrestrial and satellite equipment, institutions, etc.

SatLabs Group

The SatLabs Group is an international, not-for-profit association whose members are committed to bringing the deployment of the DVB-RCS standard to large-scale adoption.

Spectrum Management Advisory Group

The ESA Advisory Expert Group on Frequency Spectrum for Satellite Communication has been formed to present a consolidated front to defend the current satellite spectrum allocation and secure new spectrum for future satcom needs.

A new generation for DVB-RCS

19 April 2011 Specifications for the second generation of the digital video broadcasting-return channel satellite (DVB-RCS) standard have been approved and published under the name RCS2. A wide panel of experts participated in this two-year effort, one of the largest efforts ever undertaken in satellite communications standardisation.

Future Mobile Satellite Services require increased spectrum

01 October 2010 Regulators from more than 15 European countries met in Berlin on 27 September to address the global shortfall of mobile satellite spectrum.
